2023 SELECTION COMMITTEE
Presentation :
We are pleased to share the 2023-24 selection committee, composed of Xavier Franceschi, Juana Macari, Prisca Meslier and Antoine Viviani. The Taurus Prize for Visual Arts laureate will be selected by these four members, who are all either based in Corsica, or partially so.
Xavier Franceschi
Xavier Franceschi spearheaded numerous public commissions and was in charge of the Visual Arts Delegation from 2002-06 before he became the director of the FRAC Île-de-France in Paris (2006-22).
Juana Macari
As the director of the Una Volta art center, Juana Macari promotes and supports visual arts in Bastia. Prior to her tenure, from 2009 to 2015, she held a position at the Centre National de Creation Musicale Voce, in Pigna, Corsica.
Prisca Meslier
With Dumè Marcellesi, Meslier co-founded the first contemporary art biennial in Corsica, which takes place in Bonifacio. De Renava involves major public & private institutions such as the Center Pompidou, the Sorigué Foundation or FRAC Corsica.
Antoine Viviani
Both an artist and a film director, Antoine Viviani founded Providenza, an agri- cultural project and studio space in the mountains of Corsica. The space is designed to inspire new works at the intersection of arts and sciences.
The 2023-24 partner institutions are:
– Providenza, Corsica, where the laureate is invited to spend time as an introductory residency
– The FRAC Corsica will produce the laureate’s exhibition, to be presented first in Bastia at Una Volta and at Musée des Beaux-Arts, Le Locle, Switzerland in early 2025.
